Weekly Performance Overview from Jan 1 2026 to January 16 2026

DRY POWDER METER: MID-January UPDATE
Accumulation Status: [ 🟩🟩⬜⬜ ] (50% Filled)
Insight: The meter is currently half-full. Despite the market rallying, we have not seen a “discount” steep enough to trigger our strict buy rules. We are currently stockpiling cash.
The “Why” (Important): A full meter is not a signal to short the market. We are not betting on a crash. We are simply refusing to overpay. If the market does not present a valid entry point by month’s end, this accumulated cash remains in the War Chest for future opportunities.
The FOMO Trap: In a bull market, watching the S&P 500 tick higher while you hold cash is painful. It’s easy to feel FOMO. However, history shows that blind buying often leads to buying tops. We are trading the dopamine hit of “being in the market” for the safety of “buying value.”
Performance Update: Smart DCA vs. The Crowd We are currently waiting for our proprietary entry signal. Meanwhile, let’s look at the passive strategies (Daily, Weekly, and Lump Sum DCA) which are fully invested.
The Reality Check: Investors who lump-summed on January 1st are currently outperforming weekly DCA strategies by nearly 3x year-to-date.
Our Take: This is expected in an uptrend. Passive strategies win when the line goes straight up. Active strategies (like ours) win by preserving capital when the line goes down, allowing us to buy more shares at the pullbacks/bottoms.
What this means: The meter is currently 1/2 full, indicating that for the majority of January, the market has not offered a “discount” steep enough to trigger our buy rules. We are currently stockpiling cash.
Important Clarification: A full meter is not a signal to short the market. We are not betting on a crash; we are simply adhering to strict buying criteria.
The Procedure: If the market does not present a valid entry point by month’s end, this accumulated cash remains as savings (Dry Powder / War Chest*) for future opportunities. The meter will reset next month, ensuring we approach every new period with fresh data.
